Here at Davidson Elementary we are very fortunate to have many students who love to read!! You can tell this by the very used condition of our books in the media center! I encourage and believe in independent, free-choice reading which I think is one of the best ways to create a life long love of reading.
Our collection is made up of great literature and books requested by students. I always make it my goal to share books that have meaning for me. There is always a "Books Request" tablet at the circulation desk so that students may add the books they want that we may not have. Their choices matter to me. In my media lessons I often present books that I consider to be quality literature. Some are unknown and some are award winners which we always discuss.
It is my goal to share my love of reading with my students and encourage them to explore our collection in search of whatever interests them. I am honored to work with such a fantastic group of students as we have at DES.
"If you want children who are avid and excited readers, we need to let them read what interests them." -Donna Green
