CHECKOUT ENDING SOON!
As the holiday approaches so does the last day for checkout which will be this coming Friday, Dec. 13th. All books will be due back by the following Friday, Dec. 20th. So many books are lost when we have a longer break. I advise students to use the public library and ask Santa for more books!
LOST BOOKS
If your child has lost a book please keep searching for it! Books turn up and are returned often after thought to be lost for good. It is not necessary to pay for a book that has been missing for a short time. We have had several instances where a book is taken home by another student(not the student who checked it out) in a class and then turned in later. I will always be happy to work with you if you are having an issue with this type of problem.
LESSONS
Students in Kindergarten and 1st grades are learning about parts of a book, authors and illustrators and the difference between fiction and nonfiction.
Students in 2nd and 3rd grades are learning to use Horizon Information Portal to search for books which includes being able to identify different types of books such as fiction and nonfiction and how they are organized.
Students in 4th and 5th grades are developing research skills which includes learning to use some of our websites found under AT HOME ACCESS. These include Horizon Information Portal, NC Wiseowl and ebooks located there.
